I will be co-teaching a writing workshop in Baltimore with friend & fellow writer Cara Bruce. I taught a similar 6-week workshop in Wilmington, NC where the focus was on nonfiction. The advantage of teaching with Cara is that she’ll bring her fiction and editorial expertise into the mix; she has run a small publishing company of her own, published lots of fiction and edited numerous anthologies. Our belief is that life stories can be molded into memoir, essays or fiction–why limit yourself by genre? My hope is that students will benefit from our feedback as well as that of a supportive writing community.
This workshop runs from April 1st – May 6th. Details about payment and location are all here on our new site. We’ll be offering an online workshop soon, for those not in our immediate area! Yippee!

Any chance that you’ll be returning to the Baltimore area this summer? Your current workshop does not fit into my schedule but I am interested. Also, I may be underqualified – I’ve never taken a workshop or creative writing class. I need to get motivated or jumpstarted into the writing process. I usually work well under group pressure or fear of deadlines, hence the classroom setting. Do you have any suggestions for this novice? I promised my mom I would write her memoir before she croaks. Time is my enemy here – hers too, she’s 84 yrs. old.
Hi:
I would like to attend a writing class to help me edit my fiction stories. Are there any classes from May 09 onward in baltimore.
Hi Maureen,
