Calvert Cliffs, Maryland
This looked like something out of a Stephen King novel. Dead trees caused by damming & flooding the area (I think).

Just an hour after seeing thought- provoking film Exit Through the Gift Shop (in Baltimore), I see this on a curb in Silver Spring. To quote another movie I love, “it’s the cosmic unconsciousness, dude.”
Freaks Come Out at Night
What if you threw a salon and no one came? That was my biggest fear in pulling this Washington Writers’ Salon event together, but my fears subsided as writer after writer wandered into the upstairs of the Rock and Roll Hotel tonight; many even braved it alone (hard to get one’s ass off the couch or away from the computer sometimes, I know. Even harder to venture out to meet strangers). I wanted to meet other writers in DC and my wish came true in the form of award-winning authors, a couple of performance poets, short story scribes, out-of-work journalists, neophyte novelists, a possible writer-groupie, and a handful of Northern Virginia English teachers. It warmed my cynical little heart. Nice that the Washington Post Express mentioned us as a “Top Stop” today, too. Hopefully we’ll have an even bigger turnout at the next one–June 2nd! Remember that old Prell shampoo commercial? “And they tell two friends, and they tell two friends, and so on, and so on…” Who says advertising doesn’t work?
